After being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, registered nurse Gwendolyn Grace used Co-active® Coaching to transform the toil of her working life into a new vision of health and wellness.

Gwendolyn says that after working in the caring services for so long, training as a Co-active Coach empowered her to apply her inner guidance in the place it was needed most—her own life.

“As the course unfolded I was able to really hear what my own intuition was telling me: that even though doctors had been unable to help me, Fibromyalgia was a symptom and not the cause of my imbalances,” she says. “Having accepted the clinical model of disease for so long, I had not been aware that giving too much might be the root cause of my physical and emotional imbalance.”

“I also recognized a belief about myself that I was not good enough compared to others. I realized this belief had run through generations of women in my family, and led me to avoid my own needs to the point of depletion.”

Empowered by the Co-Active Coaching model’s clear focus on what we say yes or no to, Gwendolyn made pivotal decisions to take charge in her own life and change the stressful conditions she believes contributed to her illness in the first place.

Weekly coaching calls gave her a chance to avoid over committing, helped her stay on track, to express her desires clearly, and write them down with structures to support them. Gwendolyn claims that just 4 weeks after taking charge of her life, she was 80% better, and fully recovered within a year.

Today, Gwendolyn is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach and combines her thirty year background in health with self care coaching, while also running rejuvenation retreats in southern California.

“We can become the heroine in our own lives from a place of empowerment and strength. Giving and receiving allows us to be available to our loved ones in a more mature way, and, have a positive domino effect throughout our family and even our world. We have more impact, not less, when we honor our own needs and make self care a priority.”
